Leaving :(

Liz and I are currently back in the Seoul airport waiting for our next flight to take us to Germany. We are both very sad to be leaving Cambodia...we had such and awesome time and will miss the hot sunny weather!

Here is a pretty sunset from our last ride out to see Angkor Wat.

Here are Liz and I walking home from the Orchidee (awkey day)...well...we had taken a tuk tuk to pub street, and then walked from pub street to the orchidee (another bar)...but when we wanted to go home, there were no tuk tuk's waiting outside to bring us there...so we started walking until we found a ride :) walking in dirt roads in heels is not an easy task!
Here are Liz and Jon being attacked by the local children...beggars...they literally swarm you when you walk down the street...we got to know a couple of them pretty well. Liz and Jon seemed to be the beggar magnets though :)
Here is Matt trying to ride his bike while carrying 2 coconuts, and a huge korean grill, while smoking a cigarette! luckily, he made it back to our table on pub street alright!
Mmmmm fresh coconut!!! I am really going to miss these....
There are these huge spiders that like to hang out at night....i don't think they're poisonous, but we had Jon kill this one anyways...they are so creepy.

Jon and Matt...or Harley and Marlboro Man, ready for one last drive before Jon sold his bike back (he left on the 22nd).

One last morning on the roof top...Jon is almost ready to leave! :(

Group photo in front of the house and the tuk tuk that is taking Jon to the bus station.

Bye Jon!! See you in like a week back home!

So, Liz and I left....yesterday? haha...we are so messed up from the time differences...we left on the 23rd and had a taxi drive us to Phnom Penh (about a 4 hour ride). Once in Phnom Penh, we went to visit the royal palace...it wasn't really like one huge building, but lots of smaller, really pretty, ornate buildings. We felt like our taxi driver was kinda like our body guard because he walked around with us all day...too bad he didn't speak any english, so communicating to him about what we wanted to do or what we were actually looking at was pretty hard!

Here I am in one of the buildings....we had to cover up even though it was so hot out because there were a lot of shrines and holy places.

A view of a couple more buildings and garden-y type stuff. The building on the very left of this pic is the silver pagoda...it was pretty cool, the floor was entirely made out of silver tiles...there were also lots of gold statues with rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and diamonds on them...i love sparkly things!

Lizzy in front of a cool shrine.

After the royal palace, we took a small walk along the river...it's either the tonle sap or mekong river...but the palace was built where it was because 4 rivers intersect there. Anyways...on our walk we saw some very interesting cuisine....assorted bugs, and some small cooked birds....yummy.

Here is a view of the river...a lot of people were hanging out there.

After that, we got some dinner...our last meal in cambodia! Too bad it wasn't in Siem Reap, Liz and I both agreed that we liked it way better there than Phnom Penh...much less crowded and dirty! Also, the beers weren't 50cents in Phnom Penh...AH!

I had to get another coconut of course :)
Well, that's about it for Cambodia...I'm still really sad to leave and would one day like to go back! Now Liz and I are off on another adventure...long weekend in Germany before we go home! I wonder how well we can navigate our way around :)

oops, forgot some pics!

ok... a couple extras!

Here's another pic from Ta Prom...the Tomb Raider place...the trees here were so cool....and Matt is so sweaty!!!!

Here are Me, Liz, and Avon in front of another rather large temple...Matt and I ran up it, but no one else did.

Here is a story in Matt's words: "Liz was walking down to a site, and my cousin Vet shouted 'COW! COW!' and Liz stepped in a big pile of COW!....dung! It consumed her foot and she skidded a little ways...we didn't know you could ski in this country. And we all laughed at her for about 2 minutes...and she wasn't very happy. hahaha. "
Poor Liz!

Matt and his good friend, Stubby on Pub Street...Matt gives him cigarettes everyday.

Ok...that's all for now!

what did you eat on vacation?

Another temple that i can't remember the name of....but it is the temple of the farmer king....there is a legend that there was this farmer who planted cucumbers which the king loved. The farmer would bring his cucumbers every night and the king liked them so much that he gave the farmer a special weapon that would kill anyone who tried to steal the cucumbers....one night the farmer got sick and couldn't bring the king his cucumbers, so the king snuck out into the cucumber patch and the farmer chopped the king's head off thinking he was a burgerler. Then, the farmer realized what he did and hid the king's head under his bed. So, no one was able to find the king and they needed to find a new one.....apparently the special, ceremonial, white elephant will kneel in front of whoever is supposed to be king...so they let loose this elephant all over cambodia trying to find a new king, but they couldn't find one....UNTIL, the elephant came to the cucumber farmer's house and smelled the king's head under the farmer's bed and knelt down....that is how the farmer became a king....and this is his temple...supposeldy....

Here are Me, Matt, Liz, and Matt's cousin Hing ready to go for a ride to the Tonle Sap...a huge lake and to the floating village.

And, here we are on a tuk tuk with our driver, Mr. Lucky, ready for another day at the temples! yay!

Matt and Jon chugging some booze on the balcony.....pound it!

Me relaxing in a hammock in the backyard...i am going to miss this hammock!

Here is a view of the floating village...this is a river going to the Tonle Sap which we took a boat ride down...the water levels rise and fall a lot...so when the water gets too high or too low the entire village moves either out into the tonle sap or back to this river.

They had a crocodile farm on the river...ah!

Here's the whole gang on our boat. Apparently, they take the motors our of old cars and put them in boats to make them...they even had the steering wheel from the car in the boat!

The Awky Day (that is totally spelled wrong)...but a good place to hang out!

Jon and I on Pub Street....we matched again!

Me, being a dornk in Matt's house...this is like the main room...you can see the front door behind me...there are 5 bedrooms on the first floor (we're using one of them as a kitchen now), and upstairs there are 3 plus the master bedroom (which is huge and has an awesome bathroom). The only thing the house is missing is a couch :)

Here i am...guess what i'm eating......SNAKE! I actually can't believe I ate it and kind of liked it...i've also tried crickets (ew), frog (ew), and some weird little shrimp things (also ew). And matt ate a dog....EW!...and a crocodile...kinda ew.

More hammock relaxing...right under a coconut tree.

A typical end to the day :)

Hanging out at another temple...this one was really cool and it was towards the end of the day so there weren't any other people on it. i can't remember the name of it...

Man these things are big!

Here are Lizzy and I on top of Angor Wat...you normally can go to the very top, but it was under contstruction so we couldn't :(

This is Matt and his cute little cousin Ratanak.

Temples and things....warning: there is a very gross picture in this entry :)

Hi...ok...so here are some more pics...they're not really in any particular order, but enjoy!
Here are liz and i in front front of one of the bigger temples...we climbed up it...but i forget the name!

Here are liz and i in a tuk tuk getting driven around :)

This is a pic from the top of another temple i forget the name of...the stairs are really scary.

This is all of us yesterday...for some reason we decided to match...

I remember the name of this one...Lolei!!!

This is my burn....i got it from accidentally hitting the muffler on matt's stupid bike....it's pretty gross...but it doesn't hurt, so i guess that's ok...it just looks ugly and is probbably going to leave an ugly scar :(

Here i am eating a fresh coconut...so good! i usually drink about one coconut a day :)

Here is my new ruby and diamond ring :) i love it!!! it's so pretty and sparkly :)

The other day we went to the western barray intending to go on a boatride around it and to a little island on it (a barray (which i am not spelling right) is a man made lake type thing...used for irrigation), but the water was too low, so we just walked around for a little bit instead.

Here I am rubbing noses with one of the faces at the bayon temple...that place was really cool!

And here are Matt and I in front of angkor wat.

And here i am at sunset (right after i burned my leg).
