Te Henui Walkway

I think I have a lot to write about for this one!

Here is a good view of the Mountain...it's been cold and rainy the past couple days and it got more snow on it!

Here's Cashew...isn't she so cute and curly? :)

Here is my new shirt! Jon and Jenny took me out to lunch on the 10th so I had an occasion to wear it :) yay!

We went to lunch at this place called the Bach. This is the view from my seat of the port. It was a nice sunny day!

Jenny and i started to walk down the breakwater, but it got really cold and windy as soon as we started...here is me in my possum-merino sweater!

This beauty is Devon the cow! :) She currently weighs 93 kilos...Pam has her beat, she is 111! ah! Devon ripped one of her ear tags out a while ago, that's why her ear is split. :(

Devon...your comment about not having a picture of us together for a while made me sad!! so here is the closest i could get! :)

So today, I went for a walk (without getting lost), along the Te Henui Walkway...it goes right alongside the Te Henui River which you can see in the background! If you look on Google Maps, you can follow my trail...try to find Durham St in New Plymouth...it's south of the intersection of rt 3 (coronation Ave) and Cumberland st...you can see where the river crosses Rt 3, that's where I started! Then follow the river down to the ocean...then turn left towards town to the wind wand! It was a very nice walk and a beautiful day for it!

A rather picturesque view of the river. The water was really clear, but not very deep.

Here is a view of part of the trail...it wasn't as dark on the trail as it looks in this pic.

Here is a tree/fern thing...i don't know what kind of plant it is really, but it's as big as a tree, but looks like a fern...i just thought the tops of it where the leaves haven't uncurled yet are cool looking! hehe.

Here is another pretty view of the river...it looks tropical doesn't it?

Patrick, here is a duck I spotted just for you! :) There are actually a lot of ducks around...and there is a mommy duck with little ducklings that is running around the farm! I'm trying to catch one to raise :) Jenny said a chicken will take care of it haha.

Liz - here is a cool house i found :) Maybe you could enlighten us as to some of the architectural aspects of it!

Another view of the river...see how clear the water is? Those rocks near the bottom of the pic are all totally under water!

After my walk (and trip to starbucks :) ) I sat and watched the ocean for a little while...here is a pic I took of it that I like. It was perfect weather...I could have sat there all day!

These are two new additions to the farm! They arrived yesterday hehe. I think they are going to be named Pork and Bacon, but Jenny's not sure yet! I don't think they're really friendly, but they might just be adjusting to their new surroundings. We'll see in a couple days. I think they are around 6-8 wks old.

YAY! more baby chicks!!! One of Jenny's neighbors had a chicken in her yard i think, and anyways, these are the babies!! there are 10 cute little balls of fluff. Jenny and i moved them into a coup so they would be safe until Iona came to get them...I got to carry the chicks over, Jenny had the mom :) (list of baby animals I've seen so far: cows, chicks, ducks, possum, horse, lamb, pigs)

An action photo of me putting the chicks into their coup!

Chickssss! :) hehe sorry...i can't get enough of them! 6 yellows ones and 4 black.

Ok...let's see if I can respond to some comments now.

Dad-I am doing ok from the financial meltdown so far...1 US dollar is worth 1.68 NZ dollars at the moment...maybe I should go shopping :)

Devon-funny you should mention Wallace and Gromit! I was watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire NZ the other night and one of the questions was which cheese was made in England...and the only reason I knew the answer was because of W&G!! it was Wellsleydale! :) but it def. made me want to watch them too!

Matt-there is a cow named Matt! He's big and i think 2 or 3. He really only likes you if you have food for him tho! I'll try to get a pic of him too!

Ohh yes! I received a lovely package the other day! :) THANKS!! and for those who added a b-day present in it, I am trying my absolute hardest not to open them until my actual birthday (but some of the candy corn might be gone already - I couldn't help myself!)

I think that about does it :)

wow, thats a jaw dropping picture of the mountian. I can only imagine how much greater it would look through my own eyes.

but my favorite picture is of you in the big blue shirt holding the chickies. there's a genuine perfect smile captured in that moment, one that only comes when someones actually happy. not one of those "say cheese for the camera" smiles.

and now theres a cow named matt. hows he get along with devon and pam?

I see you got some piglets too. all you need now is a lamb. then you could cover all the meat groups in the grocery store.

yayy for devon the cow!!! very cute, and i think for the first time in my life besides being very little you weigh more than me hahahahahha jk im glad we got to take a picture together! its too bad my ear is ripped... that must have hurt!! maybe the pigs will turn into the two pigs in lonesome dove and they will be your new best friends and follow you around wherever you go!!! ( ahh yet another movie i want to be at home watching!! ) The mountain does look gorgeous, and i wish i could play with tons of baby animals all day.. seems fun... maybe ill get a fish... but thats not really fun to play with so maybe not...matt your comment about the meat groups in the grocery store made me laugh... you would relate pams amazing farm experience to something to put in the smoker :) hahhaa

oh just came to my mind.. patrick got baby chicks sent to him by mail before.. i think you should send me one that has a growth defect and always stays little :) please try to work on that.. hahahha

Haha Devon, that would be funny if the pigs started to follow Pam around like in Lonesome Dove. I'm going to have to watch it because I got it! but you know, you gave it to me.

bye bye freckle twins.
