03 March - Motueka Wine Tour

On the sunny day of March 3rd, we went on a wine tour :) The first winery we went to was Anchorage...it was alright...not my favourite wine in the world...but they did give us a good food platter there.

Here is our bus and a good view of the surrounding landscape.

One of the wineries we went to, himmeslfeld vineyard, had lots of sheep who liked to trim the apple trees on the vineyard....they also liked to sleep under them :) .

Dad and I at Himmelsfeld. I bought myself a bottle of wine here that the winemaker said would be perfect after it was aged for 2-3 years....so i'm saving it for when i graduate from grad school to have as a celebratory drink! :) if i remember i have it...

Mom and Dad :)

Here we are walking into our third vineyard which at the moment I forget the name of....but they had a really good chardonnay...mt. aruthur chardonnay.

Our last stop on the tour was to a brewery. Here is a view of the acres and acre of hops that are also grown in the region.

We went to the Moutere Inn which is the oldest brewery in NZ!

Here is dad walking into the pub.

Dad and I sampled some of the beers here...we had beers like "pink elephant," and "bitter ass," as well as some traditional english beers and ciders! yum!

We all enjoyed the day very much and were pretty wiped out when we got back to our cabin.

Hey Pam,

I like your wine Bus, it’s very colorful. It’s said that “In wine there’s wisdom, In beers there’s celebration, In waters there’s E Coli.” So I suppose if you drink lots of water your just full of you know what.

And it looks like Pat and I have a ways to go before we catch up to those hop fields. They were massive.

Hey Paul, your Ick comment was funny, its going to be all your fault when the kids start calling him that.
